Dope Thief Season 1

"Dope Thief" is a crime drama set in the dark neighborhoods of Philadelphia. The series tells the story of two longtime friends, Ray Driscoll (played by Brian Tyree Henry) and Manny Carvalho (played by Wagner Moura), who have been involved in small-time scams since their youth. Their lives revolve around a cycle of debts and insignificant schemes, but they dream of a big score that will change their fate. One day, they come up with a daring plan: to dress up as narcotics officers, raid drug dens, and steal money, taking advantage of the chaos and the fact that criminals don't check badges. The scheme works flawlessly until the friends cross paths with a major drug cartel and choose the wrong target. Their heist turns into a dangerous game where not only money, but also their lives are at stake. The series, based on Dennis Lehane's novel "Dope Thief," combines a gripping plot with deep character development. The directorial debut in the series belongs to Ridley Scott, who also served as a producer, and the screenplay was written by Peter Craig, known for films like "The Town" and "The Batman."
