Radically changing one's life is not so easy, especially if you are an average 40-year-old man, who grew up in a small town and never achieved anything extraordinary. John Nolan (Nathan Fillion) considered himself as such until he found himself in a bank during a robbery. Trying to engage in a constructive dialogue with an armed bandit, he unintentionally revealed himself as a true hero in the eyes of a beautiful lady and suddenly realized what real life means! Being a hero, a defender, a savior, or even better - all at once. Nolan joined the Los Angeles Police Department, where he became the oldest rookie among all newcomers. Among his colleagues, he instantly became the target of ridicule, with a sticker saying "kick me" on his back, and for his superior, he became a source of problems and a thorn in his side. Nolan's partner is even afraid to go on assignments with him, fearing that due to his lack of experience, John will either die himself or put her in harm's way. Only a couple of people in the entire department realize that the rich life experience, the wisdom of a newcomer, his self-improvement efforts, and unwavering determination will ultimately help him become a good cop. Will John Nolan be able to prove to his colleagues and superiors that serving in the police is his true calling, or will constant mockery and a series of failures ultimately send him to the dump?
