In October 1989, a group of 43 women from various countries around the globe unexpectedly give birth to children, despite not being pregnant. Some of these infants possess extraordinary abilities like superhuman strength, endurance, levitation, and the power to manipulate consciousness. Billionaire Sir Reginald Hargreeves, played by Colm Feore, discovers and adopts as many of these children as he can, forming a team of superheroes known as "The Umbrella Academy" in his own academy. Although this peculiar family occasionally saves the world, they harbor no warm feelings towards their adoptive father. When Hargreeves mysteriously passes away, the once young students, now psychologically unstable adults traumatized by their upbringing under their specific parent, reunite within the academy's walls. In order to prevent the impending apocalypse that is predicted to occur in just eight days, they must quickly overcome their alienation and mistrust, working together to save the world.
