1943. Due to logistics problems during the war, numerous letters did not reach their recipients on the front lines. While post offices were overwhelmed with mail, soldiers, deprived of communication with their loved ones, lost hope and morale. To solve this problem, the 6888th Central Postal Directory Battalion of the Women's Army Corps, consisting of over 800 African-American women servicemembers, undertook an impossible mission - to process and deliver hundreds of thousands of letters that had accumulated over the years of inactivity.
